SHARSHERET

Sharsheret, Hebrew for “chain”, is a national not-for-profit organization supporting young women and their families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer. Their mission is to offer a community of support to women diagnosed with breast cancer or at increased genetic risk, by fostering culturally-relevant individualized connections with networks of peers, health professionals, and related resources.

This fall, we raised over $2,500 for Sharsheret at our highly successful basketball tournament, Phi Hoops!

Elizabeth glaser pediatric aids foundation

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation seeks to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation was adopted as one of AEPhi’s national philanthropies in 2000.  The Foundation was founded in 1988 by AEPhi Alumna Elizabeth Meyer Glaser and her two close friends AEPhi alumna Susie Bernstein Zeegen (Xi Chapter, University of Southern California) and Susan DeLaurentis, shortly after Elizabeth and her husband, Paul, discovered that she, along with their two children Ariel and Jake, were infected with the AIDS virus as a result of a blood transfusion.

KNIGHT-THON

Knight-Thon is the University of Central Florida’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon and largest student-run philanthropy, raising funds and awareness for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Our year-long fundraising efforts conclude each spring with a 20-hour Dance Marathon!

RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay For Life is a fundraiser benefitting the American Cancer Society. It is a 14 hour event where team members take turns walking around a course to signify the fact that cancer never sleeps.

ALL FOR JACLYN

Both of these philanthropies mean so much to our chapter. We participate in memory of our sister Jaclyn Ehrlich, who passed away in 2021. She was the captain of the AEPhi Knight- Thon team and we participate in Relay For Life to honor her courageous battle with cancer. Everything we do, we do for her.
